Volunteers Needed - East Tyers Walking Track - 21 & 22 October 2017

Bushwalking Tracks & Conservation (BTAC) has been negotiating with the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) to reopen this track located west of Erica. This project sets a number of firsts for BTAC in that it represents the first track we have successful negotiated to have reopened and it is also the first major BTAC project we have undertaken in conjunction with DELWP.

Track Maintenance:      East Tyers River Walking Track
Location: 170kms east Melbourne (approx. 2 hours drive
Dates: 21 & 22 October 2017

The track has been remarked and volunteers are needed to clear the track to an extent where it is walkable. This activity is the first phase in this project. At a later date we will call for volunteers to re-deck some of the log bridges and install hand support lines. Members of the Strzelecki Bushwalking Club have also volunteered to provide assistance with its ongoing upkeep.

Tools required to be used are:

  • Chainsaws
  • Brush cutters
  • Hedge Trimmers
  • Rakes
  • Loppers

The track commences at the Caringal Scout Camp approximately 35 kilometers north of Moe on the Moe Erica road. We have secured the use of two huts in the camp ground; the Lodge and the Bert Spackman, there is also ample room for those who wish to tent it. The huts are available on the Friday and Saturday night. There is no cost to volunteers to use the huts or camp.

If you would like more information, assistance with transport or to join this activity please contact me.
